Jawaharlal Nehru University is also known as JNU. JNU is situated in New Delhi which is the capital of India. The University was formed in 1969 by the daughter of Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru, who was the first prime minister of India. The University was established under the parliamentary act of Indian Government. In 2006 JNU is in the top 200 Universities of the World. When University was established the main focus was the university is to research, thus many of the courses offer by the University is research oriented. The motto of University is Study and Struggle. The student strength for the different program of the university is around 5000 to 5500 every year. The faculty available for teaching the different course is nearly 500, who are well educated and masters in their concern subjects.
University has around 1000 acres of Campus area which is at Southern side of New Delhi. The campus is surrounded by large forest area so very good, pleasant and pollution free environment is available for studies and research. The library of JNU is one of the best libraries in the concern with Indian Universities. Library is in the nine stories building which is at the centre of the campus surrounded by all other educational buildings. The different floors of the library building are dedicated for the different subjects. At the ground floor Reading room is there for the students.
Jawaharlal Nehru University offers various programmes on Diploma, Graduate and postgraduate level. It also offers doctorate and research level programmes. JNU has the ten schools in all over India and also has the special centers for the research and development. There are more than 15 institutions which are affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru University.
