The formerly Meerut University which is known as Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCS) was established on 1965 for higher education in western part of Uttar Pradesh. This is the very old university whose silver jubilee was completed in 1991 and toady they are celebrating 45 years of completion. The campus of the university is very Vast, beautiful and Pollution Free. The campus of the university is of 222 acres, it contains large playgrounds, Botanical and Rose gardens, place for experimental fields etc. For different faculties of various teaching department university provides house in Spacious Buildings, well-equipped Laboratories and many other advances facilities. A separate Engineering College which offers various branches of engineering in B. Tech degree was established under this university.
This is the first university in the country in 1969 which introduce M. Phil and Ph.D. Programmes. With the modernized syllabus in 1973, post graduate courses are also introduced. 35 jobs oriented or self finance courses with 22 UGC’s sponsored are being run in the campus. The university offers large no. of courses in departments like Agricultural Science, Humanities, Social Science, Journalism, Earth Science and many more under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Professor S. K. Kak. The semester system in the academic program is a distinct feature of the University. The students of university are get exposes through the academic program likes Seminars, GD., Computer lab practical aspects, Lectures from experts of other universities. The complete evolution of student is done by continuous Exams, Quizzes and Seminars. The members of university are well qualified. The university is well known for Quality education in post graduate, M. Phil and Ph.D. level. The quality education of the university is proved by the success of the student in NET, GATE, ARS, GRE, and other such types of examination and administrative services. University is supported by grants for various departments in research activity.
