Punjab Technical University is known as PTU. The university is located at Jalandhar. In 1997, University was established under the act of State Legislature. The motto of University is to promote technical and management education in the state of Punjab. University mainly offers higher education programmes in Engineering, Management and in pharmacy. The total strength of the students in University is around 60,000 who are obtaining different courses and programmes. PUT also offers distance learning programme for the students who belongs from out of Punjab. University has over 300 distance learning centers in all over India. All the courses are affiliate with AICTE and UCG. University also offers non-AICTE courses.
Punjab Technical University has 150 engineering collages, 95 pharmacy collages, 156 management colleges, 68 architecture colleges, 42 hotel management and catering colleges and 41 B. Sc MLT colleges in all over the Punjab.PTU have the nine Quality improvement and research centers for the teaching faculty to improve the level of education. The syllabus is also updated time to time by the University to meet the requirements of ongoing market.
The motto of Institute is spreading the education in all class of people, thus PTU gives lots of importance to the distance education programmes. The courses offer under the distance learning is diploma, graduate and post graduate courses. Which are in the field of paramedical & applied technologies, fashion & beauty technologies, tourism and media technologies and hotel management. PTU is also very conscious about the placement of the students, thus try to make a bridge between students and companies by providing Industrial Tanning.
