VIT is also known as Vellore Institute of Technology. VIT was established in 1984 as Engineering College of Vellore. In 2001 it was renamed as a Vellore Institute of Technology which stills in exists. VIT is locates at Vellore which is at Tamil Nadu state. This is a private based University. University has 350 acres of campus area. Vellore Institute of Technology is offers various courses in undergraduate, post graduate, Engineering and MCA. University also has its own research centers. Currently it has 13 research centers in all over Tamil Nadu. VIT University currently carrying out various projects which have the initial cost is around 100 million Indian Rupees.
The various courses offer by Institute are Biotechnology, Automotive Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, Power Electronics, Nanotechnology and Information Technology (Networking) etc. More than 15,000 students possess various programmes in the University. VIT have well qualified teaching staff faculty for the students. The strength of the staff is around 1600. University also has nine schools which are well known for their different educational activities.
VIT provides various facilities to the students like hostel facility, food court facility and sports facilities. University has different hostel for the Girls and Boys which are located at different sites in same campus. The University has various sports stadiums like basket ball courts, football ground, tennis courts and also have the two swimming pools which are of the Olympic sized. The class rooms of the University are equipped with digital integrated system, which helps to provide digital education. The campus of University is Wi-Fi rigged so student can access internet anywhere in the campus very easily.
