KIIT University or kalinga Institute of industrial technology university was established in 1992 at Bhubaneswar in the Indian state of Orissa. They start institute only with 12 students and two faculties. In 1997 the school of technology and the school of computer application were started. In 2004 the institute became youngest institute to get university status in India and they entered the limka book of records. School of rural management, school of biotechnology, KIIT law school and school of medicine were started in 2007, in 2009 five new school is added in the institute school of film studies of tourism and hospitality, School of Design, Management and School of Sculpture, School of Mass Communication, management and School of Mass Communication. The institute has the recognition from UGC, NAAC, AICTE, and NBA.
The institute has 12 landscaped and eco friendly campus which covers 300 acres of area. The institutes have air conditioned class rooms, they provide modern educational equipment likes wireless LCD projectors and the campus is connected with 16 mbps of wireless connectivity for easy access to internet. The institute has more than 141819 books and journal in their library and they have web libraries. The university also has the Hostel facility for girls and boys with twenty four hour internet connectivity. They also have ultra modern hospital, gym and health club for student .The canteen serves continental dishes and hygienic Indian dishes to the student. The university also provide sports facility to the student the sports are lawn tennis, basketball, cricket and hockey.
The university offers educational courses in B. Tech, M. tech, Biotechnology, BCA, BBA, MCA, MBA. The university has following departments are Kalinga institute of medical science, Kalinga institute of social science, KIIT law school, School of rural Management, school of management, school of biotechnology, school of technology, school of languages, school of computer application
