The university was established in 1920, it is also known as a National Islamic university located in New Delhi, India. In Urdu language, the meaning of the Jamia is “university”, and Millia means “National”. The university originally located at Aligarh, India. In 1988, one central university is formed by the act of the Indian parliament. The university has 29 department and 121 courses are offered by university as graduation, under graduation and post graduation level. The university almost has 15400 students every year and it has 614 of academic staff. The campus is located in south New Delhi. The university has the affiliation from University grants commission.
Jamia Millia Islamic University provides Hostel facility for girls and boys with limited number of seats. For working woman the university provides each other hostel. The university has the library as per faculty and one separate central library. The university regularly organizes academic activities like extension lectures, debating competitions and students’ seminars etc. National service scheme and National cadet core activities on campus. The university promotes games and sports among the student.
