The Calicut University is the second university in Kerala which was established in 1968. The administration of the university in 1970 was held by Dr. M. M. Ghani. The university is completed its silver jubileein 1993. The aim of the university is to develop Human Resource (HR) in northern states of Kerala. The main motto of the Calicut University is “Nirmaya Karmana Sree”. The campus of the university is located in Tenjipalam of Malappuram district. The campus of university is 24 Km away from south of Calicut city. The campus of university is the main hub of the academic activities. The 21 departments of Post Graduate teaching and research are University Administration, Examination Hall which known as Pareeksha Bhavan, Distance Education School, Staff College Multimedia Research Center, University Library, Service Unit, Office of Vice Chancellor, Computer Center and other central Support Units.

The universality is affiliated with 304 colleges. The colleges under the university are located in the Kozhikode, Thrissur, Malappuram, Palakkad and in Wayanad. Under the university there are 123 Arts Colleges, 123 Science Colleges, 2 Law, 7 Medical, 3 Para Medical, 61 Training, 6 Ayurvedic, 11 Indian Human Research Department centers, 4 Management, 1 Music, 7 Dental, 20 Nursing, 9 Pharmacy, 2 Hotel Management and 88 Other Graduate and post Graduate Colleges. The semester system in the academic program is a distinct feature of the University. The students of university are get exposes through the academic program likes Seminars, GD., Computer lab practical aspects, Lectures from experts of other universities.
