The north campus is well connected with the yellow line of the Delhi Metro. The station is called Vishwavidyalaya, which means "university" in Hindi and Sanskrit. North campus is about 2.5 km from Delhi Vidhan Sabha and 7.0 km from ISBT.

The University of Delhi was established in 1922 as a unitary, teaching and residential university by an Act of the Central Legislative Assembly. The first convocation of Delhi University was also held in the Assembly Hall in Old Secretariat Building which now houses the Legislative Assembly of Delhi, on 26 March 1923 with 750 invitees.

Delhi University is situated in the Capital of India, i.e. Delhi. The university was incepted in 1922 by the Government of India under the act of Central Legislative Assembly. The University also known as दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय. Delhi University offers under graduate and post graduate courses. This University has 370 ranks among the whole world. University has the two campuses in Delhi knew as North Campus and South Campus. Bothe the campuses have the good connectivity of transportation like yellow line of Delhi Metro with station called Vishwavidyalaya. The university has number of affiliated colleges. The affiliated colleges are: Arts, Medical Sciences, Physical Rehabilitation, Commerce & Business Studies, Social Sciences, Science, Mathematical Sciences, Management and Technology etc.

The University offers various facilities like Hostels, liberties etc. University has 12 well equipped hostels in Delhi for the students who are not belonging from Delhi. Delhi University also has 35 liberties. And also they have 29 electronic data base centers which help students to solve any problem regarding any subject. The university provides well training facilities to the students to go for higher studies the student gets trained by the university so that they easily pick up by good companies which visited campus for recruit. The university organized own scholarship program to its students to give help for complete their education for whom student deserve a scholarship.

In the year of 2009 Delhi University has 291 ranking in all over the world. University also provides distance education programme for the students. The directorate of distance education aim is to provide education to those people who want to attend study on part time basis or correspondence.

About Delhi University

Delhi University is one the leading university in the capital city of India. It laid the foundation in the year 1922. Since its inception, the university known for it high standard of education, quality faculties and state of the art research facilities that attract the well-know scholars to its faculty.

Initially, Delhi University holds its hand with three major colleges. The colleges were St. Stephens College founded in 1881, Hindu College founded in 1899 and Ramjas College founded in 1917, affiliated to the university. Delhi University has become prominent for its notable beginning with three colleges, two faculties (Arts and Science) and about 750 students. In the year 1933, the university moved its offices and the library to the Viceregal Lodge Estate and now is the center of the main university campus.

Since decade, Delhi University spread its wing to the teaching, research and education sector that has now being recognized as the most reputable university across the country. Today, the university has 14 faculties, 86 academic departments and 79 colleges spread all over the city, and about 2, 20,000 students across India.

In the early seventies, the expansion of the university taking its toll and it began operating with its new initiative. The university then came up with the new concept of multi-campus. This new concept of South Campus came into existences in the year 1973 by launching the postgraduate programmes in some departments of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in a rented building. Eventually, the south campus successfully launched the east and west campuses of delhi university.

The South Campus is divided into two divisions, the east will be operating Medical Science as its focus, and the west campus would have to focus on Engineering and Technology. The university also successfully executes its fibre-optic networks on the North and South Campuses.
