About Andhra Bank
The history of Andhra Bank goes back to the pre-independence period. Well – known freedom fighter and a charismatic personality, Dr. Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya started the bank with just Rs. 1.00 lakh as the paid up capital and Rs. 10.00 Lakh as the authorized capital.
The bank believes in going to extreme ends to meet the needs of the customer. The philosophy of the bank always points upwards towards the growth and reaching out to the new opportunities. Bank has undertaken all the possible steps for the safety and security of the customers. Andhra Bank has introduced the AB Smart Card project for the Electronic Benefit Transfer of Govt. Schemes with more than 10 lakh members. Four Financial Literacy and Credit Counselling Centres (FLCC) have been set up for the benefit of the rural population. By next year, Andhra Bank wants to open banking service outlets to all the villages where the population is above 2000. The scheme will be implemented by the end of 2011 through Business Correspondent Network, the Branchless banking mode. The bank also stood first to launch their website in the vernacular regional language, Telugu, for the common man’s benefit.
The Andhra Bank set up includes 1371 branches, 38 satellite offices and around 665 ATMs all over the country. All the branches have been computerized and completely networked. The bank has adopted the ‘Cluster Banking Solution’ set up and Ány Branch Banking (ABB)’ theme for the benefit of its customers. For convenient banking, Andhra Bank has entered into ATM sharing arrangement with the other leading banks such as SBI, HDFC, UTI, Indian Bank and other public ‘sector banks. The newly introduced ‘Çentralized Core Banking Solution’ covers around 700 branches for the advantage of the customers to get easy access to the banking and financial services anytime, anywhere.
